Larkspur Elementary School in Douglas County, Colorado installed a book vending machine recently! The early returns are in - both the students and teachers are excited to give this new piece of technology a try.
The students are excited to be getting their hands on books they want to read, and the teachers are excited to see students get amped about reading.
Larkspur Elementary attained the funding for its book vending machine via its fun run. The Positive Behavior Interventions Team and Parent-Teacher Organization sponsored the run!
What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, or PBIS, is an initiative that encourages good behavior and can help to develop better students. How does PBIS do it? By recognizing and rewarding acts of kindness and academic achievement.
Did you know that over 20,000 schools across 44 states use PBIS rewards? It’s true! The success of the program and its continued adoption speaks for itself.
Kids are rewarded by the school’s TRACKS expectations - being Truthful, Respectful, Collaborative, Kind, and Safe.
The machine was brought in when the school’s special education teacher noticed that some students were unable to shop at book fairs the school held. It’s a way for every kid to expand their at-home library for FREE!
How Does the Original Book Vending Machine Work?
Kids are nominated on a weekly basis by the staff to receive a certification of their behavior to take home, a golden ticket, and a token to use at Inchy’s Book Vending Machine.
You can also get your book vending machine with a custom wrap of just about any design! Check out our custom wrap page to see some samples and get inspired.
